Ted Lapidus dress

#6636         $1,400

Ted Lapidus beaded evening dress, 1970s

The French fashion house Ted Lapidus, a favorite of 1960s celebrities like Brigitte Bardot, has remained a top choice for international fashionistas. This exquisite evening dress was purchased by an American socialite and never worn. It still has the original tags.

This romantic creation of white silk chiffon is covered with opaque white beads and sparkling silver sequins. The bodice is lavishly embellished with satin ribbon, floral embroidery, and faux pearls. The three dimensional, white-on-white design is singularly striking and beautiful.

The dress elegantly skims the body with a comfortable but sexy fit. The sleeves, which have inner elastic bands to hold them in place, can be worn off the shoulder.

The long slender column is broken only by a deep back-skirt slit. The dress is completely lined and has built-in bust pads. It closes in back with an invisible zipper.

Ted Lapidus is an innovative Parisian fashion house established in 1950. His work is sought after because of the masterful tailoring and superb finish. Lapidus is credited with creating the "unisex look" and with popularizing safari jackets.

The condition is excellent. The dress, which still has its original tag, has never been worn.

The size is marked 12. It measures: 38" bust, 29" waist, 40" hip, and 58" from the shoulder to the hem.
