Victor Costa evening dress

#6883          $850  Reserved

Victor Costa evening dress, 1970s

Victor Costa, king of the fashion copycats, is known for exquisite adaptations of Paris couture. Women who do not want to spend over $30,000 for couture are thrilled to get the look without the hefty price.

Costa has gained respect in fashion as a designer with a finely tuned sense of trends. Deciding which designs to adapt to the mass market is an art in itself, as I learned as a print designer when I worked on Seventh Avenue.

I love the uncluttered look of this knockout dress with an attitude. In pure white, the dress bridges the divide between virgin and vamp. The band of marabou feathers, just above the hip, is the only ornamentation.

The totally lined dress is fashioned from substantial weight white charmeuse. The bodice is boned for support. The dress closes in back with a nylon coil zipper.

High end vintage clothing, always a good buy, makes more sense than ever in the current recession. For about the same price, a vintage garment has superior construction and materials vs. what you get in a new designer cheap-chic piece.

The condition is excellent. It is clean and ready to wear.

It measures: 36" bust, 28" waist, 40" hip, and 46" center-front length.
