Appliquéd wool cape, c.1890
This graphic wool cape features fabulous design detail. If you do not need museum quality condition and want affordable fashion, here is a stunning addition to your collection.
The cape is fashioned from brown wool and is lined with ecru satin. It is decorated with velvet appliqués outlined with braided trim. The cape closes in front with the original brass buttons.
The condition is very good. There is a stain on the back, which may respond to cleaning, but I can not be sure—see the back picture below. There are a few splits in the lining, but it definitely is not shredding. And last, I found a small moth hole in back—since it is located right next to the braided trim, the trim could be moved slightly to cover the hole.
The cape is 26" long at the center back.
