Strapless rayon gauze dress, 1940s
Our lovely dress still has a lot of life in it. This beauty still makes a memorable impression.
It was made from pretty rose-colored rayon gauze. The fabric is printed with ivory flowers. The shirred bodice is bordered at the top and at the hipline with ruffles.
The bodice is boned for support. The dress is lined with crepe-backed matching satin. The two layers close separately in back with metal zippers.
The condition is very good and wearable. The issues: slight fraying on the ruffles; a few pinprick-size holes; and a patch on the skirt lining near the hem. These minor flaws are not apparent when the dress is worn.
It measures: 36"-38" bust, 28" waist, full over hip, and 45" center-front length.
