Galanos silk sun dress, 1980s
When James Galanos designed ready-to-wear clothing, his couture background was apparent. In this winning sundress, the detailed construction and meticulous attention to detail are comparable to what you will find in haute couture.
Fashioned from substantial-weight silk faille, the dress appears effortless on the outside; inside it is totally lined with charmeuse that is hand stitched along the top. The back zipper is also hand stitched.
The brilliant, 5-color floral print is so pretty and feminine—and will win all hearts! Here is woman's beauty in bloom:
Our life is short; and our days run
As fast away as does the sun.
And as a vapor, or a drop of rain,
Once lost, can ne'er be found again.
James Galanos learned couture methods at the House of Robert Piguet in Paris. Galanos' natural theatrical flair was further developed by a stint in Hollywood with movie costume-designer Jean Louis.
The condition is excellent. It is clean and ready to wear.
It measures: 38" bust, 34" waist, 42" hip, and 32" center-front length.
