#6638 $950
Velvet evening cape, 1970s
A black evening cape can be worn with an evening dress or with pants. This stylish cape from the upscale Continental room of Alvins was originally purchased by a socialite to wear with her Ted Lapidus evening dress.
The cape is fashioned from black rayon velvet and is lined with black taffeta. A wide collar of clipped black feathers beautifully frames the face. The cape, which closes with silk covered snaps, has front slits for your arms.
If you have a flair for the dramatic, this plush cape is "must have" for your wardrobe. What could be more luxurious than an evening cape that gently drapes over your body, hinting at womanly curves underneath? Fortuny regarded velvet as the aristocrat of fabrics, as had the Renaissance world that inspired him.
The condition is excellent. It is clean and ready to wear.
It measures: 52" bust and waist, 58" hip, and 56" from the shoulder to the hem.
