Berti wool felt Mexican jacket, 1940s-1960s
The “tourist jacket” from Mexico has the cachet of a high end vacation. In terms of materials and quality, this is one of the best examples I have seen of the tourist jacket.
Made from teal green felted wool and decorated with black felt appliqués, the design is more elegant and less touristy than most. Many of my favorite Mexican jackets are made by Berty (different spelling) from Monterey. Given the stylistic similarities, Berti and Berty are probably the same company.
The condition is excellent. The jacket has been cleaned and is ready to wear.
The jacket has a 42" circumference and is 29" long from shoulder to hem. The sleeves are 25" long.
