Art Nouveau enameled silver festoon necklace, c.1900
Enameling was a favorite technique of Art Nouveau design, which emphasized creative expression over precious materials. The necklace features green enameled flowers set with moonstones, another Art Nouveau favorite. I love the alternating long and short links in the chain. It closes in back with a simple metal clasp.
The necklace comes in a box that is marked "Macklowe Gallery/New York."
The condition is excellent.
The necklace is 11 1/4" long from the clasp to the bottom of the moonstone drop. The large flower is 1 1/4" wide by 1 1/2" long, including the moonstone drop. The other flowers are 5/8" across.
