Young girl's green silk stockings, c.1852
These charming treasures of childhood came from a Philadelphia estate many years ago. The stockings are knitted from delicate pale green silk yarn. They are decorated on the sides and initialed "B" at the tops. The insides of the top hems are marked "31."
The condition is almost excellent. The stockings, which are structurally sound, have slight discoloration on the soles.
The stockings measure 6" from the toe to the heel and 18" long from the top to the heel.
