Silver/gold brocade evening shoes, c.1925
The rising hemlines of the 1920s focused attention on the exposed leg and foot. During the prodigal 1920s, the demand for luxury shoes was met by an explosion of surface decoration and color.
These shoes, with their rich silver and gold metallic brocade fabric, appealed to the appetite for extravagant, expensive accessories.
The shoes feature T-straps and shapely Louis heels. They close at the ankle with fancy rhinestone-centered buttons. The label on the insole reads "Arthur Wallace/447 Washington Street/Boston."
The condition is almost excellent. The fabric has darkened slightly with age.
The size is about 6. The heel is 2 1/2" tall.
