Hand-embroidered mull fichu, 19th century
This charming fichu came from the lace collection of Mrs. J.P. Morgan. John Pierpont Morgan (April 17, 1837 – March 31, 1913) was an American financier, banker, philanthropist and art collector who dominated corporate finance and industrial consolidation during his time.
The fichu is fashioned from cream colored cotton mull. It has darkened with age and may become white if washed. It is embellished with fine hand embroidery and bands of handmade valenciennes lace.
The condition is excellent.
The fichu is 8" long at the center-back.
