European ruby brooch, c.1870-1890
This fabulous Victorian ruby brooch could be worn on a hat; the three-dimensional, curved head would bend over the brim. The brooch looks just as special on a lapel.
The brooch is fashioned from gold-washed silver. Prong-set, rose-colored rubies decorate the head and upper shaft. I love the delicate branch design on the head. The brooch closes with a C-clasp.
The condition is excellent.
It measures 3 7/8" by 1".
