Amethyst/seed pearl choker necklace, Victorian
Amethysts, which were beloved by the Victorians, were thought to bring good luck to the wearer. This lovely choker necklace is a dainty creation of sparkling purple stones suspended from a string of seed pearls. It closes in back with a diamond clasp.
The necklace comes in the original box marked "The Plumb Jewelry Store/Founded-1865/Sixth & Walnut/Des Moines."
The clasp is marked "Sterling M" on the back. It is set with a tear-shaped diamond surrounded with small round diamonds.
The condition is of the necklace is excellent. The outside cover of the box is worn.
Each amethyst stone is 1/2" by 3/8". The necklace is 14 1/2" long.
