Handmade filet lace pillow sham, c.1900
The sham is fashioned from oatmeal colored tulle embroidered with floral garlands. The front has classical figures of handmade filet lace and a center diamond panel of hand-embroidered batiste, monogrammed "KK". The ends are bordered with filet lace.
The symmetrical design is down with great charm and panache. It is based on motifs from classical Greek mythology. An amusing parlor game for your guests will be to see who can identify the references in the sham from Greek mythology.
The long tubular sham is open on both ends, and the back is plain.
The condition is excellent.
It measures: 17" wide by 51 1/2" long.
