Eztévez beaded silk cocktail dress, 1980s
The stylish, discreet evening wear of Luis Estévez remained popular with clients throughout his long career. With his wife as his muse, he designed for a woman who favored sexy yet tasteful clothes. The uncluttered silhouette and low cut back are signature Estévez.
This is what well dressed, well heeled women of today look for—the refined, best-dressed-list look. This LBD achieves Chanel's fashion ideal: a perfectly simple and stylish, yet sexy object.
The dress is fashioned from soft black silk faille and is lined with black China silk. It closes in back with a nylon coil zipper. The only embellishment: the over-sized shoulder bows with beaded fringe. The figure flattering cut is shaped with princess line seams.
Starting out at Patou in Paris in the 1950s, Estévez went on to design under his own name to great acclaim in 1955. He was considered one of the brilliant young designers in the class of Galanos, Scaasi, and Sarmi. When Estévez retired in 1997, he left a void in the fashion world, where his sexy, feminine little black dresses were much sought after.
The condition is excellent. It is clean and ready to wear.
It measures: 38" bust, 30" waist, 38" hip, and 39" from shoulder to hem.
