Randolph Duke beaded evening dress, c.2000
This fabulous evening dress from the master of elegant evening wear, Randolph Duke, was owned by a New York socialite active in the arts. After building a collection of beaded evening wear from the early 20th century, it is not surprising she would choose a design with vintage inspiration.
Celebrities such as Angelina Jolie, Hilary Swank, and Marcia Gay Harden have been spotted wearing Duke's star-quality creations. You will feel like a movie star making a big entrance on the red carpet in this stunning gown.
The outer layer is made from black net lavishly decorated with swirling patterns of clear crystal beads and metallic beads. They shift from silver to muted bronze, depending on the light. The centripetal beaded motif (3rd picture down) subconsciously draws the viewers' eyes to the wearer. The most powerful visual signals are those of which we are unaware.
The lining layer is beige lycra stretch knit with a hint of gold sparkle. The dress will fit your figure like a glove. The shoulder straps are corded, nude silk chiffon. The dress closes in back with an invisible zipper. The hem of the lining is weighted to hang properly.
The condition is excellent. It is clean and ready to wear.
The size is marked 6.
It measures: 36" bust, 30" waist, 36" hip, and 53" center-front length.
