Hand-painted portrait brooch, c.1840
A charming portrait from the Romantic Period! The painting is covered with beveled glass and set in an 18K gold frame. The scrolling design of the frame is delicately engraved.
The condition is very good. There is some minor wear on the painting of the gentleman's collar. The wear can easily be restored by an expert. I prefer to leave the brooch as is, because this is part of the charm of an antique.
It measures 1 3/4" long by 1 1/2" wide.
