Metallic embroidered tulle underdress, c.1915
Made from ecru silk tulle, the underdress has a wide hem border of silver metallic embroidery. The bodice and skirt are attached to a wide, contoured inner waistband. The underdress closes in back with hooks.
It came from the same wealthy estate as the full costume currently listed. The underdress was worn, in the same manner, under an 18th century costume.
It could be used as a pattern or as an underdress in one of your restorations.
The condition is very good. The top tulle layer in the skirt has a few breaks from the waist to knee. The lower part of the skirt (embroidered with metallic floss) is remarkably intact.
It measures: 36" bust, 27" waist, and 49" from shoulder to hem.
