Hattie Carnegie perch hat, c.1950
I love the whimsical little perch hats from the 1950s. They were purely decorative. This charming creation by the talented designer, Hattie Carnegie, was made for Nan Duskin, an upscale store in Philadelphia.
The hat is fashioned from lilac nylon mesh and is decorated with a lilac velvet bow and a wreath of fabric flowers. The hat is held in place with small attached combs.
The condition is almost excellent. There is no damage, but the flowers need to be steamed back to life.
It measures 6" by 7".
