Beaded velvet evening coat, 1950s
This truly elegant coat is fashioned from black velvet embroidered all over with a scrolling foliate design of black satin thread. The embroidery on the notched collar is embellished with large faceted jet black beads.
The lining is black satin. The front closes with two black velvet loops and covered buttons. The three-quarter length sleeves, cut-in-one with the body of the coat, are perfect for showing off long gloves and a favorite bracelet. I love the flared swing-style cut that gives the coat a real "attitude."
The condition is almost excellent. It just shows gentle wear.
It measures 52" circumference and 41" from the shoulder to the front hem.
